Essence Colour And Go Walk Of Fame

Walk Of Fame is a taupe polish from Essence's Colour & Go line of fast drying polishes. I grabbed it from Ulta around Christmas time for under $2 I believe. It is a little sheer, but you can get full coverage in 2 coats. It evens itself out rather nicely and dries to have a great shine to it. It does dry pretty quick on the first coat, the second coat not so much for me. It wouldn't stop me from buying more though since I wait for normal polish to dry longer anyway. This polish is a 5ml polish.

Now I will tell you that I have problems with using the word taupe. I usually see tones of the colors brown, beige, or grey. With the help of a few friends, I am now seeing taupe as a color and have been using the word taupe more often. So thanks girls for helping me not be taupe blind anymore.

Taupe isn't a color I love, though I really want to. I find that there are so many different shades and tones of taupe only a few look good on me. This one I love though, and I can dress it up to make it not so neutral if I want to. Which is exactly what I have done with 5 different polishes. I wanted you all to see just how different you can make taupe look.

The next picture is of Walk Of Fame with a silver leaf topcoat I made over it.

Walk Of Fame with Kunimitsu's Him over it.

Walk Of fame with Finger Paints Sparkle topcoat on top.

Walk Of Fame with Hit Polish's Sweet Potato Souffle on top.

Last but not least Walk Of Fame with American Apparel's Meteor Shower on top.

I just love how you can have a neutral polish like this and dress it up with just adding a glitter to the top of it. So for this polish I will give it....

The price is great, the formula is nice, nothing bad to say about it at all!

Have you tried Essence Colour & Go polishes, how did you like them?

Be back soon!

I wanted to pop in real quick and let you all know that I am still alive. I am having to take a bit of a break for a few days. My back is really acting up the last week and a half and now my gall bladder has decided that it hates me. I'm sure some of you have dealt with gall bladder attacks and can sympathize with the severe pain and exhaustion that comes with them. Anyway, I will be back to posting very soon. I'm hoping maybe by Friday the latest.

Ruby White Tips Sugarbush

Hey all! I have been down with a migraine for a few days, but I am feeling better. I have a gorgeous polish from a newer indie polish maker that I think you will love. I won this polish in a giveaway on the Ruby White Tips fan page, it is my first polish from this company.

This is Sugarbush...
Sugarbush is a beautiful violet polish with tiny holographic glitter, tiny holographic bar glitter and a sprinkling of small gold hex glitter. In the picture above you can see how tiny the holographic glitters are. This polish went on terrific, no problems at all. It was opaque with one coat, but I used 2 coats to get that rich violet color like in the bottle.

All pictures are 2 coats of polish with no topcoat. There is a very slight texture to the polish, but it wasn't enough to bother me. I have had this polish on for 2 days now and have had no chipping or tip wear even with all my mom duties.

I really do love this shade of polish, it isn't too purple and it isn't too pink, it is the perfect violet shade. I also really like the color with my skin tone. Laura did a great job creating this polish! I look forward to trying more from her and sharing with you. She really loves what she does, it makes me want to spend my money with her to see her company grow.

Prices are very reasonable at $7.50 for a full sized bottle. She has 2 polishes, Peekaboo and Poppy,  that 50% of the proceeds go toward helping bats. She also has a mystery box that contains at least 2 nail polishes and other surprises, it sells for $12.50. One thing you wont find many of is glitter topcoats, I think there is only one available and one flaky topcoat. I really enjoy seeing a company that is making polishes that aren't just glitter bombs. Though I do love my glitter bombs ;o) Laura is always up for the challenge of creating a custom color for you too. She and I tried this a few months back when I was wanting a true orange holographic polish. I still feel bad that I was being so picky, she tried her best though!

I'm not sure how to rate this polish since it was a prize. I have dealt with Laura as a customer previously though, and her shipping with my prize was great. So based on those factors I will give my experiences with Ruby Whit Tips...5 cupcakes!

You can find Ruby White Tips shop here.
You can find Ruby White Tips fan page here.

I have my eye on Man Eater, Peekaboo, and Hartnett. What colors do you have your eye on?

Today I have a quick review of a polish remover. My good friend Courtney, who you may know as Phyrra told me about this a while back. I don't get to Target often and when I did I had forgotten all about it. I was given a gift card to Target for Christmas and set out on a mission to grab one for and also one for my mom.

This is a 9 ounce container and was $2.48 at my local Target. I found it beneath the nail polish section. This was the only type of container like this that they had. Luckily for me someone had opened one and so I was able to see if it was the right one. I have the kind that has the foam insert in it already and didn't really want another.

This is what it looks like when opened. Kind of strange looking huh? My first thought was that is going to hurt like hell, because the very top pink plastic is so hard and the inside looks the same. Then I thought well it is worth a shot for $2.48, besides Phyrra uses it and hadn't mentioned that it was like a torture device. I knew if I didn't like it that I could just pour the remover into an empty remover bottle and use it that way.

This is a closeup of the little bristles that are on the inside of it. Sorry the quality is so bad, my camera is on its last leg. They kind of look like little combs don't they? LOL

Mom immediately started putting different polishes on her nails when we got home just so she could use hers. It was pretty funny watching her apply polish and immediately dip her fingers in it to watch it work. I just chuckled to myself and let her have her fun for awhile before breaking the news to her. I had to tell her that yes it appears to be a miracle in a container, but that any remover would take wet nail polish off easily. The look on her face was priceless, almost like I had kicked a puppy LOL! I put it to the test with removing the polish I had on for about a week.

This was 2 coats of Zoya Ziv, I coat of Barry M Limited Edition silver glitter, a thin coat of Orly Rockets Red Glare and on the accent nail all of that with a coat of micro green glitter all of them topped with a coat of Seche Vite. That is a whole lot of layers of polish, not to mention how hard glitter is to get off. (This mani was worth it though. It was stunning and so sparkly. I wish I had been able to capture how pretty it was.)

When I pushed my finger inside the insert I was surprised at how gentle it felt. It is a softer but still firm rubber. If you have sausage fingers like I do it will feel snug on your fingers using it, but I think that actually helped with the removal. It took maybe 3-4 minuted max to get all the polish off of both hands. A few of the nails wanted to give me problems with the polish coming off. I just pushed my finger in and moved it around a few extra seconds and it was all gone.

I really like that the way this is made it allows the glitter to fall to the bottom of the container. With the foam type the glitter and polish just stay trapped right in there and leave you with discolored glittery fingers. I can see that the Target remover will be easy to empty, clean and refill as well. I like that alot! I wish I had thought to snap a picture of the glitter in the bottom of it to show you. It is an acetone product so be careful when using it and be sure to wash your hands after using it to get all the acetone off before polishing your nails again.

I would buy this product again and again and again. I really do love it. I can't thank Phyrra enough for telling me about it. I am starting a new rating system for the blog, are you ready for cute overload?

I give this product 5 cupcakes!

Have you ever tried this product? What did you think of it? Do you know of any polish remover products that I need to try? Let me know in the comments.

A new year means lots of changes

I hope that everyone had a great holiday season and that your new year is the best it can be. With all the busy things and life going on through the holidays I got a bit behind on posting, I am sorry for that. I will tell you that this year will be different for me, no matter what tries to get in my way! I have a newly found determination in me that I can hopefully keep going throughout the year.

My first determination is to be healthier. Yeah I know everyone says that, but with somethings I have seen I WILL do it! I also plan on sharing my journey through what I am sure will be an up and down battle for me. I have lived my life my way for so long that it may take friends and family reminding me that I HAVE to do this not only for me, but for the kids too. The pictures below will show you the results of a lab workup I had and very recently got the results of....NOT GOOD. The numbers marked in red are the extreme, the yellow are on the high and the green are the ok side.

As you can see just by the colors on those pages, I have a bunch of changes to make. I got these results on Christmas Eve on my way to celebrate with the family. It was a shock to me and it still is. I have cried, thought, cried, tried to sleep it away, cried and cried some more. I also thought, if this is how bad my labs are what about the kids? We eat the same things and it scares me to death to know that I have put my kids on the same path as myself. The only good part about my labs are that my thyroid is good. The doctor explained that I am prone to alot of this due to genetics, but I am not going to just say ok to that. I am going to fight my butt off to try to get some of this fixed or at least better. I want to see my future waaaaaaay in the future grandbabies, possibly great grandbabies. I want to do things in my life and with my kids, I don't want to die of a heart attack or have a stroke and be a burden to them.

I have decided to go on a low buy for awhile. There are a small group of ladies who are doing it together. I have already gotten some much needed advice, ways to curb my impulses, and an awesome support system. I need a new camera, mine is 12 years old and doesn't work very well anymore. I will share with you my rules I have set for myself.
*Since my blog has turned into more of a show off polish blog I am going to set a $ amount I am allowed to spend on polish. This will include handmade and mainstream polishes. I am going to say that I am allowed to spend $20 a month on polish.
*I am also a hair product whore, so I am on a no buy for hair products until I use all of it that I have stashed, which is alot.
*My next weakness is doing a ton of swaps or gifting polishes(7-12 a month) with people. I am going to cut down to allowing myself 2 swaps per month. I am doing this because I truly am weak when it comes to doing swaps, I normally go out and buy polishes for the swaps and go way over what the limit set was which also jacks the shipping prices up even more.
*I will allow myself to swap items I already have though, mainly because I know I wont want to get rid of most of my polishes LOL. (Just keeping it real :oP )
*I will allow myself to rollover any unused money from the current month to the next month.
*I will allow myself to splurge for my birthday, up to $40 that month before any rollover money.
*Any money or gift cards given to me as a gift are fair play, only because they were a gift to treat myself.

*I promise myself that if I have the urge to purchase anything online I will walk away from the computer for at least 10 minutes and take a think about it time out. That way it makes me stop before impulse spending and look at my stash to see if I really need the item or not.

This is going to be hard at times for me, but I know it will be good for me to do this. Don't worry, I have so many untried polishes that I will stay busy with those. Plus I am still allowed to receive polishes from friends and buy some polishes. Maybe I will even do some of the monthly polish challenges and contests.

I am trying to get my mental health back on track. I have been dealing with depression, anxiety attacks, some phobias that have made me feel broken and defeated. They have prevented me from doing things and at times prevented me from even leaving the house. My doctor has been trying her best to help me get it under control, but has referred me to a clinic that is specifically for mental health. That appointment is later this month and I am keeping the hope that they will figure it out and get the medicines right. I want to feel "normal" again, I want to love life again and be able to deal with the things it throws at me better.

I want to be a better daughter, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor. I try to help people as much as I can, that is just how I am. I want people to see that kind acts don't always have to cost something. I want my girls to have big, loving, kind hearts. I want them to be proud that they are considerate and respectful of others. I can invite neighbors for dinner, bake them cookies, take trash out for them. There are so many lonely people who live right around me, and it makes me sad to think that I could have made a difference in the last 6 months I have lived here and haven't. I miss the closeness that I had with my nieces and nephews. I miss them coming to me to talk about problems or good things that happen to them. I miss my sisters! I miss going to lunch or dinner with them, I miss the feeling you get when they wrap their arms around you and tell you everything is going to be ok, or doing the same for them.

So those are some of my goals for this year. I hope that you will continue to ride along with me through the twists and turns this year. I truly love having you along with me, it makes the road less lonely.

Have you set any goals for yourself this year? If so please share them with me in the comments. If you have any tips or advice for me, please share. I love hearing from you.
